OF RAINY SUMMER DAYS

DSCF1002

DSCF0997

Summer in Florida is a combination of sweltering heat and torrential rains. Nothing like cloudless mornings only to be soaked from heavy downpour in the afternoon. My wardrobe solution to this seemingly bipolar season? Dress, boots, cardi, sunglasses, and a waterproof bag to carry my rain-or-shine essentials.:)

Inspired by the colors of country and all things cowboy, I decided to tone down the popping colors of the printed dress with a lot of vintage brown, bronze and gold.

Pats on the back to  me for making my trusty old travel boots work on this look and to my boyfriend for choosing the denim jacket as my last finishing touch to this head-to-toe Forever21 ensemble.

Now I’m able to walk without having to worry about crossing mud puddles or getting too sunbaked.:)

The pictures were taken at “everybody’s favorite park” (an inside joke at work)–John Prince Park!:) And I quote one patient of mine, “this is the place to be!”

Indeed it is.:)

PLAIN AND SIMPLE

Let me start by talking about the pants.

I remember back in the day, I was probably 4 years old, my mom had me wear a pair of ripped jeans just like the ones I wore today. Wait, let me rephrase that…my mom FORCED me to wear a pair of ripped jeans amidst my protests while she repeatedly said that the jeans were in style. Of course at that time, my idea of fashion was limited to cute ribbons and curls so ripped jeans seemed to me like something a homeless man would wear.

I didn’t let my mom dress me up that day, she wasn’t too happy.LoL

A few years after that fateful day, when my fashion sense broadened and MC Hammer rose to fame (and was then our Justin Bieber), the roles got reversed. I now wanted to wear ripped jeans and some tummy-revealing top and my mom wouldn’t let me. But I could not find a single pair of those funky bottoms, so what happened next involved me cutting holes on my favorite pants and me looking like an idiot in them! My mom was laughing and I wasn’t too pleased.

Good thing today you can find practically any pair of jeans in all shape and sizes, from the ripped to the very ripped. I found my perfect pair from Love Culture and I wore them with my favorite white shirt today to create that casual look.:)

By favorite shirt I meant something I wear on almost a weekly basis, from bikini cover-up, malling to night out…I think I even wore this shirt to sleep.haha

With the right accessories, it can transform into something other than a plain white shirt. That’s how versatile it is.:)

Ending the post with me celebrating one of life’s simple pleasures–being able to wear something comfortable…and looking good in them.;) It’s that plain and simple.:D

OLD SCHOOL

DSCF0653

This whole outfit was my witness to the adventure that I had gotten myself into at Universal Orlando Resort. Yes, as embarrassing as it may sound, I consider roller coaster rides as adventure because for one, I have never ridden any before this trip and two, I am immensely afraid of heights. So riding not only one but two coasters is already a great achievement for me.

Being back in Universal reminds me of my dad who would fondly say that he did not pay $130 for his death (thus he would never ride those roller coasters), well in my case, I paid an extra $80 to skip the lines and be 30 minutes earlier to my death plunge. Why I did such a thing, I have no idea. All I know is that I promised myself that I would do this and be done with it and that I would be braver than the excited little kids in front of us in the line.haha

I am glad to say that after those brain-jarring twists and somersaults, I was not knocked out unconscious nor did I puke (I almost did) and more importantly, I lived to tell the tale.:) Too bad I could only share my memory and not pictures of  my terrifying moments up on those rides. Believe me, there is nothing remotely flattering when your face is puffed out like a fish hundreds of feet above the ground.

The last roller coaster I have been on was one called Rock It. The unique part of this ride was when they make you pick out a music of your choice to blast behind your ears as the ride goes about its turns. I chose Fergie’s GLAMOROUS…naturally.:)

I decided to go old school for my outfit because I wanted to bring both style and comfort during this whole day of gallivanting around a huge theme park.

And I am very thankful for my trusty Gucci Boston bag for not only carrying my essentials (water included as park drinks are ridiculously priced) but for also adding class to this street style ensemble.:)
